Renard is an environmental activist and climate leader in ASEAN working with marginalized and displaced communities. Renard acts as Climate Change Adviser to the Centre for Governance and Political Studies (CENT-GPS) where he is responsible for advancing the organisation's work in the field of climate change and sustainability. He was recently elected the youngest Co-Lead for the Climate Change and Disaster Risk Reduction Group of the Global Young Academy, a network of top notch global scientists working towards making a positive impact in the world. He is also member of the World Economic Forum Expert Network and was appointed as the First Community Champion for Global Shapers Southeast Asian Hubs. He was the Co-Chair of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP)-FI's Commitment Towards Climate Action working group (representing developing countries) and is a Global Lead for the Climate & Action Steering Committee in Asia Pacific. He has served on numerous councils such as the Global Basel Infrastructure Stakeholder Council and the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) drafting frameworks to drive the low carbon and sustainability agenda. For his work in sustainability, he was named one of Asia's 21 Young Leaders by Asia Society, a Young Leader by the World Cities Summit, Ten Outstanding Young Malaysians (Environmental Leadership), Malaysia's Top 10 Most Inspiring Green Warriors and was listed as a Malaysian Generation Tatler recipient.
